Progression Warrior
A line of chord symbols says more than its letters. This site reads one back to you: where the line is at home, and what each chord is doing while it is there.
Free chord-line reading for players: type the chords of a song as symbols and get back the key and mode they sit in, a Roman numeral for every chord, and the named move each one is making — every move declared from a published source and every reading re-derived before it ships.
How a Reading Works
Type the Line
Chord symbols the way a chart writes them — C, E7, Am, F, Fm, C — separated by spaces, commas or bar lines. A token that is not a chord is set aside, never guessed at.
Find Home
The line is scored against every tonic in all seven modes. The best score is the reading; a tie is shown as a tie, with every key that shares it named.
Name Each Move
Every chord gets its Roman numeral in that key, and every declared move it makes — a borrowed minor iv, a V of V, a deceptive arrival — is labelled on the chord that makes it.
What Lives Here
Read a Line
Type the chords, get the key and mode, a Roman numeral for every chord and the moves they make, with any tie named.
The Moves
Every move the reader can find, each a rule taken from a published source and worked through the same corpus of lines.
About
What a reading answers, what it declines to explain, and how every claim on the site is re-derived before it ships.
Theme Builder
Four colours in, a contrast-checked palette out, for the numerals and the move labels alike.
The Site That Reads the Line
The rest of the Warrior Network publishes progressions: voiced on instruments, discussed in theory lessons, played in their own styles. This site does the one thing none of them does — it takes the line you bring and says, chord by chord, what each one is doing in the key it finds. It explains none of it; it reads, and shows its working.
